As Sterling said, some database files were corrupted. The restoration from the backups are taking too long.
In a few minutes everything will be back to normality. The major problem is that the backup wasn't saving correctly the passwords. So, basically all your passwords have been lost and they have to be set again from My Account section in the website.
From now you can start changing the passwords of your accounts.

Haha I just turned on TV and it was emergency news: "Shock, panic, terror.! People all over the world went on the streets to protest. L2 Vanir Private server is down! Really we will have to set again our passwords ? i have passwords from players that have stop and i use them and for some of them i have not the passwords on Vanir page. Also i have near to 100+ characters i ll need to change all that passes?

Can u give us specific information about the problem? How are repairs going and when do u suspect the server will come back to life (moreless accurate time and date) ?
